The Greater Greenwich Chamber of Commerce, Inc. has been awarded a 2009 New York Main Street Grant. This grant will provide 25/75 matching funds to qualifying properties in the targeted downtown area. Funds may be used for facade renovation and/or second-story residential renovations and there will be a streetscape enhancement component. The average project will be able to receive up to $7000 for qualifying revitalization efforts. The project expenses are to be incurred by the property owner and will then be reimbursed from NYS through the program upon inspection of compliance.

At a public meeting on 11/30/2009, representatives of Marvin & Company Community Revitalization, the consulting firm working with the GGCC, gave an overview of the program. Guidelines, the target area, the qualifying activities and the process needed to be followed as mandated by NYS were explained and discussed.

Only contractors who have been approved are eligible to perform work for the NY Main Street Program. Contractors who wish to submit bids for projects funded by the NYMS Program must provide proof of compliance with all applicable guidelines.
